When must you signal?

In German traffic rules, you must signal before pulling out to overtake or pass another vehicle, and also before pulling back in after overtaking. This is to clearly inform other road users of your intentions and to prevent accidents. You do not need to signal when continuing straight ahead after leaving a priority road that bends sharply, as this is not considered a lane change or turning maneuver.
