You want to overtake and you have initiated a lane change using the active lane change assist system. What is correct?

With an active lane change assist system, the car can steer itself into the next lane once you’ve initiated the maneuver, so it can perform the lane change independently. But it is not “autonomous driving”: you remain the driver and must continuously monitor the lane change, be ready to intervene, and take over immediately if something becomes unsafe.

What is not correct is the idea that the system always maintains all safety distances independently. These systems have limits (sensor blind spots, weather, unclear lane markings, fast-approaching vehicles, motorcycles, vehicles in adjacent lanes). You must still ensure there is enough gap in front and behind and that overtaking is allowed and safe. Rule of thumb: driver assistance can support, but responsibility for observation, safety distances, and the decision to overtake stays with you.
